Bergen Group Services AS awarded frame agreement from Volvo Penta

Bergen Group Services AS has signed a frame agreement with Volvo Penta and in cooperation with Volvo Penta Center Bjordal & Madsen AS in Bergen.

CEO Frode Johansson in Bergen Group Services and Helene Norman-Dupuy, Dealer Business Area Manager for Volvo Penta, are signing the agreement between the parties.

The frame agreement comprises sale and service of the whole product range to the commercial market.  The product range includes among others complete propulsion lines for vessels, marine generators, emergency generators and other auxiliary systems.

CEO Frode Johansson in Bergen Group Services AS is evaluating the frame agreement with the international Volvo Penta Group as strategically important for the company.

“The new and added services to the product portfolio of the Company do give an expanded market base for service and maintenance on high speed diesel engines. This is an area of which we over time have worked quite systematically to strengthen our position as a leading provider to the Norwegian market”, states Frode Johansson.

He does not want to quantify any value of the agreement with Volvo Penta, but states that the agreement will make the service area of the company within advanced ship services even more attractive to the Norwegian market. The company has through many years had a corresponding position as service-dealer for the MTU-engines.

The most important operational activity within Bergen Group Services is based on the extensive capacity and competence within ship technical maintenance of ships and service and repair of diesel engines used in demanding maritime operations with extra requirements for reliable operations and service quality.

Bergen Group Services has during the last years managed to complement a robust and varied customer base in the spot market, with more long term frame agreements contributing to further developing and strengthening the competence on complex maritime services of the company. The Company has been awarded extensive service frame agreements with both The Norwegian Defense and with the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue.

Bergen Group Services AS is a fully owned subsidiary of Bergen Group ASA. Bergen Group Services had in 2014 a turnover of NOK 265 million and operating profit of NOK 24 million. The Company acquired earlier this year the assets and activities of Fjell Industries AS and thus secured larger and more modern production facilities,  enabling capacity growth both in relation to volume and size of the structures to be handled. The takeover has also added further competence both in width and depth to the company, and thus strengthened the basis for Bergen Group Services ambitions of further growth within both existing and new markets.
