The hull has been produced by Bogazici Tersanas Shipyard outside Istanbul. After towing the hull from Istanbul to Norway,  an operation lasting for about three weeks, the hull will be outfitted and commissioned at Bergen Group Fosen and then delivered to the owner;  Volstad Maritime AS in Ålesund.

The hull is a large and advanced OCV-vessel (Offshore Construction Vessel) with a length of 125 meters and 25 meters wide. The ship is built according to the rules of Clean Design, DP3 and an Ice class ICE-1A. It is designed by Skipsteknisk in Ålesund and has type designation ST-259 CD.

Bergen Group Fosen was awarded the contract with Volstad Maritime AS in December 2010.

“The company is a demanding customer actively aiming for use of new technology to ensure a modern, functional, environmentally friendly and future oriented ship. This suits us and our skills very well. We have a highly experienced organization on that to build advanced and high-tech vessel”, said CEO Arnar Utseth at Bergen Group Fosen.

Volstad Maritime AS has since 2005 purchased all its six buildings at Bergen Group Fosen. The company is a privately owned Norwegian offshore company based in Ålesund. The firm is well established in the international market with a modern fleet of advanced offshore vessels.

During the launching ceremony, Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg pointed out that it is no coincidence that the launching is part of his visit program in Turkey.

“Norway and Turkey have a long tradition of business cooperation in the maritime sector. Tersanas yard alone now has a total of 8 hulls and ships on order for Norwegian interests, with a total value of nearly 2 billion”, the Prime Minister pointed out.

Turkey's minister for transport, maritime and communication, Binali Yıldırım, was also present at the launching, together with a number of key people in the Turkish and Norwegian maritime sector.
