Bergen Group Hanøytangen awarded new rig-contract from Prosafe

Prosafe has awarded Bergen Group Hanøytangen a contract on a short dock stay for the accommodation rig Safe Scandinavia.

Safe Scandinavian will arrive BG Hanøytangen on 19 mars 2011 for a one-weekdock stay . Here pictured with Deepsea Atlantic (in the back) when last visiting Hanøytangen in the fall of 2010.

The arrival is estimated to March 19th 2011, and the project will be finished the week thereafter. The project will involve several other Bergen Group’s subsidiaries.  The contract award is an exercise of the option signed last year when the same rig was subject to a short yard stay at Bergen Group Hanøytangen.

The purpose of the dock stay is to carry out some minor modifications and maintenance work before the rig is returning back to the Snorre-field for another 6 months period.

Safe Scandinavia, previously named PolyCrown, was built in 1984 at the Aker Verdal yard to an Aker H-3.2E design. The rig has been operating many fields, starting out on Statfjord in the period of 1984 to 2000.  The floating accommodation rig has a maximum capacity of 583 beds, and was in April 2007 the first floating accommodation unit to be awarded Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority.
